Monster Mania: Work Stations

This week we'll have some fun with monsters!  Yay!  I love bringing in a bit of fun with the holidays!  Included in the packet...



Spin and Graph: This activity reinforces color words while graphing data.  RF.K.3:  Read Common high-frequency words by sight words.



Positional Word Match: Students will begin with matching the positional graphics.  To increase the challenge, I provided the words to match with the graphics.  K.G.1.1, Describe the relative location of people, places, and things by using positional words.


Candy Land Patterns: Identifying patterns through this board game is sure to excite young learners!  Patterns is the foundations for skip counting. Identifying sets.  I wish there was a core standard to address patterns in Kindergarten!!!


 Ordering Numbers: Identifying the order of numbers starting at any number.  This game activity will assist students working with numbers through 20.  After the order is determined, kids will record the number.  For an added challenge, they're to name the number that comes before and after the ordered set. K.CC.2, Count forward beginning from a given number within the known sequence.



Sight Word Sentences: Students will work to arrange sight word sentences in the pocket chart.  Working on I, see, a, AND color words.  Students will become familiar with sentence structure!  K.L.2. Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing.



Word Wheels- Combining -at and -an word families with sight words through word wheels addresses several needs at once.  Also included is a responding sheet for writing practice.  K.RFS.3. Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words.
